The short versionPinterest launched Beauty Guides on October 6, 2026, an AI feature that turns hair and nail Pins into guides covering what to ask for at the salon, what to expect during an appointment, similar looks, products and step-by-step instructions. It's available to iOS users in the U.S. first. For salons and nail studios, it pays to pin your own work under the real service name and link each Pin to its booking page.
Clients have always shown up with a screenshot. Now they may show up with a guide that tells them what to ask for. On October 6, Pinterest launched Beauty Guides.
What happened
Pinterest announced: "Today, Pinterest is launching Beauty Guides, a new AI powered experience that turns hair and nail Pins into personalized, actionable guides designed to help people recreate the looks they discover on Pinterest."
Pinterest says the feature is available to iOS users in the U.S. first, with plans to expand to more people and regions. Cosmetics Business reports availability from October 8; the exact start date hasn't been confirmed.
The details
Each guide covers what to ask for at the salon, what to expect during an appointment, similar looks to explore, relevant products and step-by-step instructions. People open a hair or nail Pin in closeup and tap "Get the Guide," then save it for their next appointment or use it to recreate the look at home.
Matt Madrigal, Pinterest's Chief Product and Technology Officer, said: "People come to Pinterest with a point of view, even if they don't know the words to describe it."
Pinterest released its first Beauty Trend Report at the same time. Searches for caramel nude nails are up 943%, raspberry jelly nails up 828% and cluster lashes ideas up 646%, based on Pinterest's internal data on global text-based searches, July 2025 vs. July 2026. Pinterest is partnering with Sephora on the report's Makeup Maximalism trend.
Pinterest hasn't said whether guides credit or link back to the original Pin's creator or business. TechCrunch and PYMNTS also covered the launch.
Why brands should care
For salons and nail studios, the Pin a client opens can become the brief they bring to the chair. If that Pin shows your work, named the way you name the service and linked to your booking page, you're not just the inspiration. You're the obvious place to book.
It also helps consults. A client who arrives knowing what to ask for is easier to serve than one holding a blurry screenshot.
What to do
- Get a free business account. Pinterest offers free business accounts.
- Claim your website. Pinterest says claiming your site puts your profile picture alongside Pins saved from it.
- Pin your own work. Well lit, and titled with the real service name clients would ask for.
- Link every Pin to its booking page. Pinterest recommends linking to a landing page clearly related to the Pin.
- Watch the trends. If caramel nude nails are on your menu, make sure your Pins say so.
