The short versionAt its Brand Building Summit on October 15, 2026, Meta announced Ads Super Burst. Advertisers can book a window of 3 to 24 hours on a single day across Facebook and Instagram, with price and approximate reach agreed up front. Meta commits to reach within 5% of a set forecast, CPMs vary by date rather than by auction, and US brands can reserve category exclusivity on select dates. Meta also announced an early test of First Impression Ads and an alpha of Aggregated View Time.
Meta is selling time slots in your feed the way TV sells prime time. For brands with a big launch day, that's a new option. For everyone else, it may mean more competition on the days that matter.
What happened
At its Brand Building Summit on October 15, Meta announced Ads Super Burst, which "lets you book a window of 3 to 24 hours and reach your audience at TV-like scale inside that window." AdExchanger reports the window runs on a single day across Facebook and Instagram, with price and approximate reach agreed up front.
The details
Guaranteed reach. Meta commits to generating reach within 5% of a set forecast, per AdExchanger. That's Meta's commitment, not an independent figure.
Pricing. Standard reach campaigns are bought in the auction. Super Burst CPMs vary by date. "A major cultural moment prices differently from an ordinary Tuesday," Simon Whitcombe, VP of Meta's global business group for North America, told AdExchanger. Slots are first come, first served.
Exclusivity. Meta says that with category exclusivity, "no other advertiser in your category can book the same window." AdExchanger reports this is available in the US on select tentpole dates.
Results so far. Meta says testers saw a median 2.9 point lift in ad recall and reached a median of 34 million people per flight. Those are Meta's numbers. Meta says the product "is moving to general availability this month, rolling out in phases."
Also announced. Meta is testing First Impression Ads in the US, a chance to be the first ad someone sees in Facebook Feed, with "just one brand per day." It's also in early testing with Aggregated View Time, which measures time spent with a brand across a week. Meta says it's in alpha.
Why brands should care
Most small brands won't book a 34-million-person flight. But big brands buying the best windows on Black Friday or a major game day can push up competition, and costs, for everyone else in the auction around them.
What to do
Our suggestions, not Meta guidance:
- If you have a fixed launch date, ask your Meta rep. Super Burst is built for moments you can't move.
- If you're auction-only, plan around tentpoles. Watch your CPMs on big days and consider spending just before or after.
- Measure recall, not just clicks. If you test it, set up a brand lift study, since that's what Meta is selling.
