Got Product Photos? Turn Them Into a Video Ad

No video for your Google Ads? Veo inside Asset Studio turns up to three still images into short videos you can drop into ad templates. Here's how to use the photos you already have.

The short versionVeo, Google's video model, is built into Asset Studio in Google Ads. Upload up to three still images and Veo generates a separate video from each, up to 10 seconds long, which you can package into ready-to-serve ads with templates. Google announced it in March 2026 and says it's available for all campaigns. Find it under Tools, then Asset studio, choose vertical for phones, and review every clip before it runs.

If you've got product photos but no video, Google Ads can now make one for you. Veo, Google's video model, sits inside Asset Studio in Google Ads, and it starts from still images.

What happened

Google explains: "Simply upload up to three static images as source material. Veo intuitively understands the scene and content within each image." From each image, Veo generates a separate video up to 10 seconds long, with natural motion. You can then package the videos into ready-to-serve ads using customizable templates.

Google announced Veo in Google Ads in March 2026 and says it's available for all campaigns and for auto-generated Demand Gen campaigns. It resurfaced in coverage this week. Google hasn't said what Veo generation costs inside Google Ads.

The details

Google Ads Help says Asset studio is found within the Tools menu. Google's advertiser's guide recommends choosing a vertical aspect ratio when using Veo to optimize for mobile-first platforms.

Google's example Asset Studio screen notes that high-quality images work best and that images of faces aren't supported yet. Search Engine Land's hands-on review found that you can't prompt the scene, that faces caused errors, and that generated assets aren't published automatically.

Google also says its data shows Demand Gen campaigns that include at least 3 unique videos are significantly more effective at lifting brand consideration and purchase intent.

Why brands should care

Video is where a lot of ad inventory lives, and it's the format most small businesses skip because filming takes time. If you run a salon, cafe or boutique, the product photos you already have are enough to start testing.

The catch is control. You pick the photo, not the scene, so the clip can show motion your product doesn't really have. That's why the review step below matters more than the generation step. A video that makes a cake look taller or a dress look shinier than it is will cost you more in disappointed customers than it earns in clicks.

What to do

  1. Open Tools, then Asset studio, and choose the Veo option to create a video from images.
  2. Pick your sharpest product shot. Skip photos built around faces.
  3. Choose vertical for phones, pick your favorite clip and add your words in a template.
  4. Watch every second before it runs. The product should look like the real thing, the motion should look natural and the offer should match your page.
  5. Make three, not one.
