The short versionOpenAI started rolling out GPT-6 with Intelligent UI in ChatGPT on October 7, 2026. Answers can include graphics, tappable buttons, forms, charts and interactive tools you use inside the chat. Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise get it first, and Free and Go start getting it October 8. Ask it to build a calculator, chart or plan, then check every number.
ChatGPT just stopped being only a text box. On October 7, OpenAI started rolling out GPT-6 with what it calls Intelligent UI, and the answers can now be things you click, drag and use.
What happened
OpenAI says: "With Intelligent UI, responses can include graphics, tappable buttons, forms, charts, and interactive experiences you can use directly in your conversation." It describes the new model as built for "more than 1.2 billion people who use ChatGPT each week."
The part that matters most for business owners: "You can also ask ChatGPT to create a tool for the task at hand, such as a calculator to explore how savings could grow, a bill splitter for dinner with friends, or a game you can play in the conversation."
The details
OpenAI says GPT-6 with Intelligent UI starts rolling out globally to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise in the Chat tab first, with Free and Go tiers following starting October 8. Enterprise access depends on workplace admin settings. GPT-6 Sol powers the paid tiers and GPT-6 Luna powers Free and Go; the models behind Work and Codex aren't changing in this release. OpenAI also says that for questions needing web search, GPT-6 Instant starts answering 44% sooner, on average, than GPT-5.6 Instant.
TechCrunch reports answers can include tappable buttons, a customized calculator, interactive charts and editable graphs, and that users can dial the visuals back. The Verge describes in-line tools like a retirement savings calculator, a retro game and a bill splitter, and WIRED tried an apartment affordability calculator with sliders.
OpenAI also notes that when a simple text answer is most useful, ChatGPT can still give you that.
Why brands should care
Most owners use ChatGPT to write: captions, emails, replies. That still works. But the bigger time savings come from tools you'd otherwise build in a spreadsheet, or never build at all. A calculator for pricing a new package or a chart of slow days used to mean an afternoon in Excel. Now it's a prompt.
Five tools to try this week
These are our suggestions, not OpenAI examples, and we haven't tested their output:
- A package calculator. Price, product cost and staff time, showing profit per booking.
- A bookings chart. Paste in 8 weeks of bookings and ask for a chart of your slowest day.
- A side-by-side comparison. Three booking apps by price, reminders and deposits.
- A tip splitter. Split tips across staff by hours worked.
- A clickable posting plan. Seven days of posts you can tap through.
Two rules either way: check every number before you rely on it, and keep customer names and details out of the chat.
